Stop Buying iPads
THE Journal September 2012
Great article about taking time to think about the money we spend on technology. Think it goes along well with my most recent post.
I like iPads but for 1 to 1 computing? Really? Have you ever typed on one of these? Not to mention the comparable cost of Netbooks and their durability. I think we mix consumerism with education and that's why we end up with crazy ideas like "every kid needs an iPad." I'm all for 1 to 1 and if you want more information about the benefits of 1 to 1 check out http://www.aalf.org/ but 1 to 1 tablets (of any kind) don't seem to have much benefit and have more limitations than Netbooks.
If you could have 1 to 1 Netbooks or iPads what would choose? Be REAL, what is more effective for students?
